In addition to the Museum itself, we always present new exhibitions. The exhibitions focus on the society of yesterday and today, on life in Wallonia and on Man. The temporary exhibition space on the second floor of the Museum is mainly reserved for original projects created from the collections. The Espace Saint-Antoine hosts exhibitions created in collaboration with other cultural partners.
Rio de Janeiro. The legendary beaches, the favelas hills, the Christ the Redeemer... and its carnival — spectacular, unmissable, vibrant. Every year, this extraordinary celebration ignites the streets of the "Marvelous City" bringing together dancers, musicians, costume designers, and artisans around a single motto: celebrating life.
The Musée de la Vie wallonne invites you to discover the behind-the-scenes of this world-famous celebration through the largest collection of Carioca costumes presented in Europe.
More than fifty dazzling outfits immerse you in a magical universe, from sewing workshops to samba schools, culminating in the grand parade's climax. More than ever rooted in Brazilian culture, the carnival becomes a true way of life. Here, as in Wallonia, it is not just a show: it is a collective and popular language, joyful and vibrant, where the entire community takes center stage.
Forget the dullness of winter and let yourself be carried away by the rhythm, the fabrics, the colors... The carnival starts here!
