Two exhibitions reveal to visitors a fine insight into the prestigious provincial collection of Château de Jehay.
The first one, the “Jehay Cabinet of Curiosities”, recreates the typical atmosphere of yesteryear's cabinets of curiosities, the ancestors of our present-day museums. In an intimate ambience, this collection reflects the personality of Count Guy an den Steen de Jehay, the final resident of the premises and an enlightened collector.
The second, “Treasures from Ireland”, unveils the inestimable contribution of the countess, Lady Moyra Butler. Originally from Kilkenny Castle in Ireland and a member of an illustrious Irish aristocratic family, the countess enriched the Jehay collection with works of art and items of furniture that are of major importance.
These two exhibitions bear the common feature of presenting works in a remarkable condition and testify to the ambitious restoration campaign initiated by Province de Liège.
