Aims and Objectives

To give to the students a good basic knowledge in the field of nuclear phenomena, underscoring particularly those aspects of nuclear energy that have applications in industrial processes and biological effects of ionising radiations.

Description

The nucleus.

Alpha radioactivity

Beta radioactivity (negative and positive)

Gamma radiations

Exponential decay.

Secular Equilibriums. Radioactive chains.

Neutrons.

Dosimetry (definition, biological effects of radiations, dose equivalent. Detectors.

Natural Radioactivity. ( tritium, carbon 14, potassium 40, radon, uranium 235 and 238.)

Fusion reactions.

Fission reactions.

Slow neutrons reactors (PWR, BWR, and gas reactors)

Fast neutron reactors.

Applications of radio elements in the fields of industry and medicine.

Waste products and their disposal
