Be able to understand and experiment the point to point basics functions.

First approach of Network services.

Basics of OSI and TCP/IP.

Description

First approach of Network services :

Basics of data transmission.

Physicals and logicals networks topologies.

Local networks, large area network.

Models OSI and TCP/IP.

Transmission media. (Twisted pair, coax, optical fiber)

Serial transmissions: Synchronous mode – Asynchronous mode.

Errors detections and corrections. (Parity bit, BCC, CRC…)

Ethernet protocol: MAC address, CSMS/CD protocol.

Collision domain / Broadcast domain.

IP protocol : IP address, sub-networks

Networks components: Repetitor, Hub, and Switch.
