Aims and Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to :

- describe the main types of handicaps and services for handicapped persons ;

- to rid of its prejudices concerning the handicap.

Description

- Introduction : definitions, prevention, etiology,…

- Sensory handicaps : audio an visual deficiencies.

- Physical handicaps : cerebral palsy, spinabifida, muscular dystrophy,…

- Mental handicaps : Down syndrome, autism.

For each type of handicap, description of symptoms and associated disorders, etiology and prevention, psychological developments.

- Discussion of various issues : mobility, sexuality,…
