Knowledge and comprehension of inorganic and organic chemistry courses.

Aims and Objectives

To familiarise with fundamental's techniques usual in laboratories of chemistry.

To realize reactions that have been studied during the theoretical course (Organic Chemistry 1st year).

To be able to realize manipulations alone, in respect of security rules and laboratory material

Description

Separation, purification, identification and dosages techniques :

  • Distillation
  • Crystallization and recrystallization
  • Boiling point determination
  • Thin layer chromatography and column chromatography
  • Extraction

Synthesis :

· Preparation of acetanilide

· Esterifications

· Aldol condensation

· Electrophilic additions on alkenes

· Nucleophilic substitutions of halogenated compounds…

Mechanism’s studies :

· SN1 - SN2 study

· Alcohols properties

>Identification tests.

Compounds of biological interest : characterization.
