Aims and Objectives

Retrace the main events in the history of the press

Lead to an understanding of the importance of the French Revolution in attaining freedom of the press

Summarize the technological breakthroughs throughout the 19th century leading to the industrialization, development, and current state of the press

Acquire better knowledge of the great newspaper and media companies of the 20th century as well as an understanding of their control of today's daily newspapers and weekly newsmagazines
